The year is 1930. As the United States is in the early stages of
a severe depression, twelve women from Elkton, Maryland, Cecil County are organizing a new
Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Though much has changed since those early days, the
current membership of the Head of Elk Chapter DAR is working to preserve their founders' vision.
This website is dedicated to those women. Click here to view a Cecil County News article
describing the organizing meeting.
Welcome to Head of Elk Chapter, NSDAR. We are proud of our heritage and the role our ancestors played. We invite you to join us as we work together to preserve history, promote education, and enhance patriotism. We welcome your interest in our society. Any woman over the age of 18 who can prove lineal descent from a man or woman who rendered material aid to the cause of American Independence is eligible for membership. Documentation must be provided for each statement of birth, marriage, and death between prospective member and revolutionary ancestor.
